VoltsyA Battery Pet App for iPhone: Meet Volt
Volt is a small green battery character who lives in Voltsy and changes with your charge, your heat and your Low Power Mode. Here is exactly what each mood means, so the cuteness still carries real information.
Why a character rather than a chart
A battery dashboard tells you a number you already know. The hard part is not knowing your level, it is doing something about it at the right moment. A face is read faster than a figure, it survives a glance, and a character you have kept happy for eleven days is harder to abandon than a graph. That is the whole design argument, and it is the reason the numbers in Voltsy stay small and the character stays large.
The eight moods and what triggers each
- Energetic Full, or above 80% and unplugged. Volt says: “Feeling great and full of energy!”
- Content Between 30% and 80%, unplugged. The sweet spot. Volt says: “Comfy right here in the sweet spot.”
- Charging Plugged in and taking power. Volt says: “Mmm, soaking up the power.”
- Sleepy At or below 30%. Volt says: “Getting a little sleepy, a top up soon?”
- Low At or below 10%. Volt's eyes go out. Volt says: “Running low, let's find a charger!”
- Hot The system thermal state has climbed into the serious range. Volt says: “I'm running warm, maybe take my case off?”
- Full Held at 100% for more than an hour. Volt says: “I've been full a while, you can unplug me.”
- Power Nap Low Power Mode is on. Volt says: “Resting in Low Power Mode to make it last.”
The bars show the charge level that goes with each mood. Because iOS reports the level to apps in steps of about five percent, Volt changes in those steps too.
The care streak and the Power Nap freeze
Every day Voltsy judges whether it was a healthy one for your battery, and a healthy day adds to the streak. A bad day does not automatically wipe it out: Voltsy spends a Power Nap freeze token instead, so a single forgotten evening does not undo three weeks. The free version carries one freeze token, topped back up at the start of each week. Voltsy Pro makes them unlimited.
The five badges, with their exact conditions
- Goldilocks At least 90% of the day's readings landed inside the 20% to 80% band.
- Cool A whole day without a single reading in the serious thermal range.
- No Drama The battery never went below 10% that day.
- Night Owl Less than an hour spent sitting at 100%.
- 100 day A care streak that reached 100 days.
Cute, but not dishonest
Volt never fakes a reading to look better. There is no battery health percentage in Voltsy, because iOS does not give one to apps, and the Battery Care score stays blank until Voltsy has observed about three charge cycles of your own use. When the app is unsure, it says so instead of filling the gap with a number.
